KASA Announces New Director Of Coaching

Former US National Soccer Team Member and European Pro Comes to Fox Cities to Set Roots, Share Passion for Game With Local Youth Players

KIMBERLY, Wisconsin – March 19, 2018 – Today the Kimberly Area Soccer Association (KASA), a community-based, volunteer-run soccer organization dedicated to the enrichment of the lives of the children of the Kimberly area through soccer skills and leadership training and play, announced its formal relationship with Steve Purdy, former US Men’s National Team member on the U17, U20 and U23 teams.  Purdy also captained the El Salvador National Team and played professionally both in Germany for 1860 Munich and in the United States, playing for the Portland Timbers, FC Dallas and Chivas USA.

Raised in California, Purdy comes to the Fox Cities to put down roots, build a family with his fiancée, and share his passion and knowledge for soccer with the children of Kimberly as the Director of Coaching (DOC) for KASA.

“I’ve already met some of our players and can’t wait to get started, teaching them what the game has taught me, not just about competitive soccer, but about being a leader on and off the field.  About being a good community citizen,” said Purdy.  “I’ve played with and against some of the best players in the world.  Players like David Beckham, Tony Kroos and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.  Having the good fortune of playing among the greats has afforded me knowledge and experience that just can’t be acquired without being there, and I’m very excited to bring that to the kids of KASA.”

By bringing Purdy to KASA, the club looks to build the confidence and skills of its players through coach education.  “Steve is excited for the future of competitive soccer in Kimberly.  His approach will balance fun with a high level of play, which should create a rewarding experience for the kids,” said Jeff Pozniak, commissioner for KASA’s competitive Classic program.

KASA is hosting a “Meet the DOC” event concurrent with the club’s U8/U10 Academy training, at the indoor turf facility at Kimberly High School, on Sunday March 25th, from 9:30am-11am.  Contact Jeff Pozniak for further information.

About KASA: Kimberly Area Soccer Association is a volunteer-based, non-profit soccer club, dedicated to the development and enrichment of the lives of the children of the Kimberly area through soccer skills and leadership training and play.  2018 is KASA’s 40th year of operation.
